Ashok Reddy directs officials to meet rising water demand in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad water demand surged as Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply and prevent inconvenience to residents.

He inspected tanker filling stations in Kondapur, Madhapur, Ayyappa Society, Banjara Hills, and Somajiguda. Meanwhile, he ordered officials to monitor these centres round the clock due to high booking volumes. He also instructed teams to operate tanker deliveries in two shifts without delays.

The MD inaugurated a new tanker filling station at Brindavan Colony in Kokapet. In addition, he said the facility will cater to rising demand in Manikonda and Narsingi areas and improve supply response time.

Hyderabad water demand rises with summer pressure on resources

Ashok Reddy said officials must prepare to meet increasing summer demand. Further, he asked them to ensure immediate delivery after tanker bookings and submit proposals to improve services.

He warned of strict action against irregularities in tanker bookings. Accordingly, officials will introduce barcode-based tracking for tanker tokens to ensure transparency.

The MD said CCTV cameras now monitor all filling stations. Moreover, authorities linked these systems to the central office in Khairtabad for real-time oversight.

He said limited water resources and rising usage require careful management. Therefore, he urged citizens to use water sparingly and avoid wastage.

He also pointed to declining groundwater levels and possible demand increase over the next 30 days. Hence, he stressed that public cooperation is essential for effective water management.

Officials said 46% of tanker bookings come through the mobile app, 47% through IVRS, and 7% via the official website.
