Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended greetings on National Panchayati Raj Day and highlighted the role of village institutions in national development.
He said village panchayats play a key role in driving progress. Moreover, he stated that strong rural systems are essential for achieving meaningful development.
“Villages are the foundation of the nation’s growth. The people’s government remains committed to strengthening them,” he said in a message.
National Panchayati Raj Day underscores role of grassroots governance
The Chief Minister said effective functioning of panchayats strengthens democracy. Further, he noted that local self-governance reflects the true spirit of decentralisation.
He referred to the 73rd Constitutional Amendment and said it empowered local bodies with self-governance rights. In addition, he said these institutions guide democratic decentralisation in the country.
He stressed the need to enhance capacity, accountability, and efficiency in Panchayati Raj institutions. Therefore, he said these bodies must play a stronger role in achieving social justice and inclusive development.
The Chief Minister added that local governance drives social, economic, and cultural transformation in rural areas.
