Harvard executive education courses to begin in Hyderabad in December: Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Harvard University would begin offering executive education courses for aspiring professionals in Hyderabad from December, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said. He said the initiative formed part of the government’s efforts to develop Telangana into a global knowledge hub. Revanth Reddy made the announcement during a meeting with a delegation representing UK business schools at MCR HRD Institute.
The delegation included UK House of Lords member Karan Bilimoria and British Council director Janaka Pushpanathan. Chartered Association of Business Schools CEO Flora Hamilton also attended the meeting.
Representatives of the British Deputy High Commission joined the discussions. Overall, representatives from 30 UK universities participated in the meeting with the Chief Minister.
Revanth Reddy held discussions with deans and senior officials representing various UK business schools. He said the state government was ready to extend support based on the requirements of universities.
Harvard executive education part of global university push
Revanth Reddy said Harvard executive education could form part of wider academic cooperation with leading international universities. He said the government could initiate partnerships with Harvard, MIT, the University of London, Virginia Tech and Northeastern University. Such partnerships could cover executive programmes, dual-degree courses, faculty training and research.
The Chief Minister also said several leading universities, including MIT and Purdue, had started processes to establish offshore campuses in Hyderabad. According to Revanth Reddy, international institutions would create opportunities for collaboration with local universities and industries. Moreover, their presence would support research activities in Hyderabad.
He said the establishment of UK business schools in Telangana could attract global corporate organisations to the state. At the same time, students and faculty could gain access to international institutions, experience and opportunities.
The government was also working to improve students’ proficiency in foreign languages. Revanth Reddy cited English, German and Japanese among the languages covered by these efforts.
He said the government was establishing Young India Skills University in Bharat Future City. The institution would provide advanced skills training aligned with changing market requirements.
The government was developing Bharat Future City across nearly 30,000 acres, he said. Revanth Reddy described the project as India’s first net-zero greenfield smart city. Furthermore, he said an education hub in Future City would expand employment opportunities for future generations.
Harvard executive education aligns with Telangana’s knowledge hub plans
Revanth Reddy invited the UK delegation to participate in the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026 in December. He said the government was extending a special invitation to key figures in the UK education sector.
The state planned to organise the summit on the lines of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, he said. Revanth Reddy also said major global companies were coming forward to invest in Future City. He said TCS would build what he described as India’s largest AI data centre with an investment of ₹70,000 crore.
Additionally, he said Amazon had already undertaken construction of a data centre involving an investment of ₹1 lakh crore. The Chief Minister said Telangana wanted to attract leading global universities and Fortune 500 companies. He also outlined the government’s plans to restructure education and skills development from the nursery level through higher education.
The strategy included ITIs, polytechnic colleges and skills universities to strengthen employment-oriented skills among young people. In addition, he cited Telangana Public Schools and Young India Sports University as parts of the planned changes. Revanth Reddy said Harvard executive education and other international academic partnerships would support the state’s broader education ambitions.
He also outlined Telangana’s long-term economic targets before the delegation. The government aimed to develop Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, he said.
