Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police warned organisers and devotees against using prohibited DJs during Ganesh festival celebrations. Police said high-volume sound could affect the health and well-being of residents in surrounding areas.
The police issued a public awareness message ahead of the festivities and urged organisers to maintain safe sound levels. They highlighted the impact of loud DJ music on children, elderly people and those who were unwell. The appeal asked organisers to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi without causing excessive noise.
“Heavy sound from prohibited DJs can harm and disturb surrounding homes, especially children, elderly persons, and those who are unwell,” Hyderabad City Police said in its message.
Police also released a short awareness video with the advisory. The video illustrated how extremely loud music during celebrations could distress people living in nearby homes. In its Telugu message, the police stressed that excessive DJ sound was harmful to health.
The message also focused on the problems faced by vulnerable people in residential neighbourhoods. Police sought cooperation from organisers and participants to keep celebrations within safe sound limits.
Prohibited DJs campaign calls for lower noise
The campaign carried the message, “Let us reduce noise pollution and increase the spirit of devotion.” Through the appeal, police encouraged organisers to give greater priority to devotional celebrations instead of excessive amplification.
Ganesh festival celebrations include processions and community events across Hyderabad. Sound systems are commonly used at pandals and during processions. Against this backdrop, police asked participants to reduce inconvenience to people living near celebration venues and procession routes.
Hyderabad Police also promoted the awareness campaign on social media. It used the hashtags #GaneshFestival2026, #SafeCelebrations and #NoisePollution to spread its message and encourage safer celebrations.
