Hyderabad: A petition was filed in Nampally court seeking the passport seizure of AICC Telangana affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. The petitioner sought to prevent Natarajan from travelling abroad for higher studies.
Srilatha, described as the victim in the Kambham Sivakumar Reddy case, approached the court with the plea. She said two criminal cases against Natarajan were already pending. Therefore, she requested the court to order the immediate seizure of Natarajan’s passport.
The petition marked another controversy involving the AICC Telangana affairs in-charge. Srilatha sought restrictions on Natarajan’s foreign travel in view of the pending cases.
Passport seizure plea follows Rajya Sabha nomination setback
According to the information provided, Srilatha’s case had also figured in an earlier electoral issue involving Natarajan. The case details were not disclosed in an election affidavit submitted by Natarajan.
Her nomination for a Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh was rejected last June over the non-disclosure, according to the information provided. As a result, Natarajan had already missed out on the MP post.
The latest petition has now brought her proposed foreign travel into focus. Political circles were discussing what implications the court petition could have for her plans to travel abroad.
