Hyderabad: BRS general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar on Thursday alleged an adulterated food supply to children in Telangana government and welfare educational institutions. He claimed that the alleged supply had put students’ health and safety at risk.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Praveen Kumar said the BRS wanted to conduct a live demonstration. He said the proposed demonstration would highlight what the party described as dangers facing students in the state.
Praveen Kumar said parents sent their children to residential and regular schools expecting quality education and nutritious meals. He said students required food containing adequate carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and fats.
However, he alleged that conditions had deteriorated under the Congress government. He also claimed that the BRS had raised concerns about students’ welfare for the past six months.
Adulterated food supply allegation targets welfare institutions
Praveen Kumar described what he called the “Gurukul scam” as a continuing series of episodes. He alleged that its latest phase involved attempts to supply adulterated food products to students.

Meanwhile, Praveen Kumar urged parents to remain vigilant about the quality of food their children received at educational institutions.

According to Praveen Kumar, lakhs of students received breakfast, lunch and dinner through these institutions and schools. Therefore, he said food quality and safety remained a major concern for students and their parents.
Praveen Kumar called for greater parental vigilance over the alleged adulterated food supply and the quality of meals served to children.
