Hyderabad: Chilkalguda Police arrested a 36-year-old man over the murder of Immadi Srinivas at Mylargadda, police said on Thursday. The Chilkalguda murder arrest followed a fatal knife attack on Srinivas on September 15. Police identified the accused as Mohammed Nizamuddin alias Nizam, a resident of Bholakpur in Musheerabad. He is the son of Mohammed Kamaluddin.
Police arrested Nizamuddin on September 16. They also registered a case at Chilkalguda Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. According to police, Srinivas left his residence at around 6.30 pm on September 15. He travelled on his Activa scooter to purchase liquor.
Between 7.10 pm and 7.20 pm, Nizamuddin allegedly attacked Srinivas with a knife on Mylargadda Road. Srinivas suffered a serious abdominal injury in the attack. People initially shifted him to RTC Hospital. Subsequently, they took him to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Chilkalguda murder arrest linked to financial dispute
Police said their investigation revealed that Nizamuddin knew Srinivas’s son, Suman. The two had business dealings and financial transactions. According to investigators, Suman had suffered substantial losses in share-market trading. He left his residence in November 2023 and had not returned.
Police alleged that Nizamuddin had invested money through Suman. Subsequently, he faced difficulties in recovering the amount. Nizamuddin had approached a civil court and filed a petition concerning the monetary dispute, police said. However, investigators alleged that his inability to recover the money had caused resentment.
Police also alleged that Nizamuddin could not contact Suman. Investigators claimed that these circumstances led him to hold a grudge against Suman and his family. According to police, Nizamuddin then decided to target Srinivas to take revenge against Suman.
On September 15, Srinivas was travelling towards a wine shop when the attack occurred. Police alleged that Nizamuddin attacked him with a sharp-edged knife on Mylargadda Road and fled. Investigators subsequently traced Nizamuddin and arrested him the following day.
Police said the Chilkalguda murder arrest also resulted in the recovery of material allegedly connected with the crime. Investigators recovered a sharp-edged curved knife that they suspected was used in the attack.
Additionally, police recovered the accused’s blood-stained clothes. They also seized a scooter allegedly used in connection with the offence. SHO V. Ramkrishna, SI J. Rakesh and their team conducted the investigation. ACP Chilkalguda K. Shashank Reddy supervised the probe.
Additional DCP, Secunderabad Zone, J. Narsaiah led the operation. Police authorities later appreciated the team for the swift investigation and arrest. Hyderabad City Police also appealed to people involved in financial disputes to pursue lawful remedies. They advised people with monetary grievances to approach police, courts or other competent authorities.
Furthermore, police warned that threats, assaults, intimidation and violence over debt recovery or personal disputes would attract strict legal action. “Financial disputes and personal grievances must be resolved through lawful channels. No individual has the right to enforce recovery or settle scores through violence,” police said.
