Drunk Driving Can Lead to Serious Legal Consequences

Cyberabad Police warned motorists about the legal consequences of drunk driving. A person who drives under the influence and causes a fatal accident may face serious criminal charges.

Police cited Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. This section deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. It provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine in applicable cases.

The exact charge and punishment depend on the circumstances and the court’s findings. Motorists should never assume that drunk driving carries only a traffic fine.

Courts Dispose of 196 Drunk Driving Cases

Courts disposed of 196 drunk driving cases between October 12 and 17. Of these, five cases resulted in both a fine and social service. The courts imposed fines alone in the remaining 191 cases.

These outcomes highlight the continued legal action against drunk driving in the Cyberabad police commissionerate. Traffic police continue to conduct enforcement drives to deter motorists from driving after consuming alcohol.

Cyberabad Traffic Police has urged motorists to follow traffic rules and make responsible travel choices. People who consume alcohol should use a designated driver or arrange alternative transport.

The department’s message remains clear: driving under the influence endangers lives and can lead to serious legal consequences.
