Hyderabad: DCP Traffic-III Rahul Hegde B.K., IPS, has directed traffic officers to maintain strict discipline while performing their duties. He instructed personnel to avoid mobile phone use during point duty. He also warned staff against unauthorised absence.

Hegde issued these instructions during the monthly review meeting on October 17. He met Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) from traffic police stations across Hyderabad.

The meeting focused on enforcement performance and traffic management. Hegde reviewed several violations, including minor driving, drunken driving, wrong-side driving and dangerous driving. He also stressed the need to prevent motorists from blocking free-left turns.

DCP Reviews Traffic Enforcement in Hyderabad

During the meeting, Hegde assessed enforcement against multiple traffic violations. He directed officers to take strict action against motorists who break traffic rules.

The review covered drunken driving and dangerous driving. It also addressed wrong-side driving and violations involving minor drivers.

Hegde highlighted the problem of vehicles blocking free-left turns. Such violations can disrupt traffic flow and cause congestion at busy junctions. He asked officers to strengthen enforcement and ensure smoother movement for road users.

The DCP also reviewed the entry of private buses and heavy vehicles into restricted areas. He instructed officers to monitor these violations and enforce the applicable restrictions.

ROPE Operations and Arrive Alive Campaign Under Review

Hegde reviewed the progress of ROPE operations and the Arrive Alive campaign. He asked officers to assess their implementation and strengthen enforcement wherever necessary.

The review aimed to improve compliance with traffic rules across the city. Officers must maintain consistent enforcement and address violations that affect road safety.

The DCP stressed that every officer must follow the instructions issued during the meeting. He also called for greater responsibility while carrying out traffic management duties.

DCP Stresses Discipline and Punctuality

Hegde instructed personnel to maintain proper turnout and punctuality. He said officers must perform their duties with discipline and responsibility.

He specifically warned point-duty staff against using mobile phones while managing traffic. Such distractions can affect their attention and interfere with traffic regulation.

The DCP also directed staff to obtain prior permission before taking leave. Personnel must not remain absent without valid authorisation.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police shared details of the monthly review meeting in a post on X. The instructions underline the department’s focus on staff discipline, stronger enforcement and improved traffic management across Hyderabad.
