Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative to train one lakh students for free

Hyderabad: The Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative will provide free training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Computing to one lakh students across the state. IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced the programme on Monday.

The Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) will implement the initiative in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The programme will impose no financial burden on the state government, educational institutions or participating students.

TASK and AWS signed an agreement at the Secretariat on Monday to implement the training programme. Sridhar Babu said the initiative would cover students from 643 TASK-affiliated colleges across Telangana. The training would focus on industry-relevant technology skills and practical learning.

Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative to cover five technology fields

Under the Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative, students will receive training in AI, Cloud Computing, Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Generative AI. Moreover, participants will gain access to the AWS Cloud Console for hands-on learning and practical experience with cloud technologies.

The programme will also offer specialised learning tracks for students from different academic backgrounds. Engineering and Science students will participate alongside those pursuing non-STEM courses, including Arts and Commerce.

This approach will extend technology training opportunities to students beyond conventional technical education streams. Students enrolled in the programme will receive one year of free access to more than 900 digital courses through AWS Skill Builder.

Additionally, AWS will provide discount vouchers for global certification examinations. These vouchers will help students pursuing professional certifications in relevant technology fields.

The initiative will also include industry connect sessions with technology experts and hackathons. Through these activities, students will gain practical exposure and opportunities to interact with industry professionals.

Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative to include job fairs

The Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative will also support employment opportunities for students who complete the training successfully. Sridhar Babu said TASK would organise special job fairs for eligible students after they complete the programme. These events would facilitate employment opportunities for trained candidates.

Meanwhile, faculty members from participating colleges will also receive training in AI and Cloud technologies. The faculty training component will run alongside the student-focused programme, extending technical learning opportunities to teaching staff.

The agreement-signing event was attended by ITE&C Joint Secretary Anudeep Durishetty and State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof. V. Balakista Reddy. TASK CEO Nitin Reddy and AWS India and South Asia President Sandeep Dutta were also present.

Other attendees included AWS Head of Education and Skills Abhinav, Country Manager for Skilling and Social Impact Pratibha, and AWS Academy TPM Akanksha Rai Sharma. Several other officials attended the event at the Secretariat.
