Etala Rajender says village panchayats survive on central funds

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender said village panchayats in Telangana were surviving on funds released by the Centre and questioned criticism against the Union government.

Speaking on Friday after inspecting arrangements for the BJP public meeting at Parade Grounds, Etala Rajender said people in the state strongly wanted the BJP to come to power.

He said some leaders were questioning what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had brought to Telangana. However, he argued that village panchayats were functioning with central assistance even today.

Central funds panchayats issue raised at BJP event

Etala Rajender questioned how the state could receive funds without support from the Centre. He asserted that central assistance remained crucial for the functioning of local bodies in Telangana.

The BJP leader also targeted both the previous BRS government and the ruling Congress administration.

He said people had already rejected the “dictatorial rule” of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the past. Moreover, he claimed the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was also facing growing public opposition within two-and-a-half years.

Etala Rajender said voters would decisively defeat Revanth Reddy in the coming elections. He added that the political change in Telangana would resemble election results seen in West Bengal.

Further, he stated that the BJP’s immediate focus in Telangana was the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. After that, the party would concentrate on ZPTC, MPTC and Assembly elections.
