Hyderabad: Karimnagar Rural Police arrested two persons involved in multiple house burglaries and recovered stolen gold, silver, mobile phones and autos in the Karimnagar gold theft case.
Circle Inspector Niranjan Reddy said the accused were identified as M.D. Mohammed and Mohammed Moin, residents of Bommakal and Chintakunta. Police said the duo had been involved in criminal activities for some time and allegedly turned to thefts to support their lavish lifestyle.
According to the police, the accused committed a gold theft in a house at Choppadandi last year. Later, they allegedly carried out burglaries in several houses located in Vijayanagar Colony, Citizen Colony and Bommakal areas.
Karimnagar gold theft investigation led to major seizure
Police found that a portion of the stolen gold had already been sold in Karimnagar. The accused were reportedly preparing to sell more gold in Nanded.
Meanwhile, police noticed the duo moving suspiciously near Thigalaguttapalli railway station in an auto used during the thefts. Officers detained them for questioning. During the inquiry, both accused confessed to the crimes, the CI said.
Police seized seven tolas and three grams of gold, 90 grams of silver, two mobile phones and two autos from the accused. The two men were later remanded.
