Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said the formation of Telangana was the outcome of the sacrifices of martyrs and decades of democratic struggle while addressing Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Lok Bhavan.
The Governor unfurled the national flag at Lok Bhavan and received a ceremonial guard of honour from police personnel. He also paid tribute to those who laid down their lives during the Telangana movement.
Shukla extended greetings to the people of Telangana and Telangana natives living across the world on the occasion of the state’s formation anniversary.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor called upon people to remember all those who laid the foundation for modern Telangana. Referring to the Sanskrit saying “Janani Janmabhoomishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi”, he said one’s birthplace is greater than heaven.
According to the Governor, Telangana’s centuries-old culture, traditions and agricultural heritage remain the lifeline of the state. He noted that the contribution of farmers, from the era of Kakatiya chain-linked tanks to modern irrigation projects, played a key role in making Telangana prosperous.

Furthermore, Shukla highlighted Telangana’s achievements in information technology, pharmaceuticals and the startup ecosystem. He said the state’s growing international recognition in these sectors was a matter of pride.
Moreover, the Governor said Telangana should continue progressing in line with constitutional values and the ideal of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah”.
In addition, he expressed hope that rural development, urban development, welfare initiatives and city modernisation would advance simultaneously.
He also said Telangana should achieve greater progress and play an increasingly important role in India’s development journey.
Meanwhile, Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, Joint Secretary Shashikirana Chary, Lok Bhavan officials and staff attended the celebrations.
