Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called on teachers and parents to nurture students like saplings, saying the future of students determines the future of the nation. He made the remarks while addressing a free notebook distribution programme organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangh at the Lok Bhavan Community Hall on Wednesday.
The Governor said every student has the potential to achieve great success when provided with proper guidance, education, discipline and good values. He encouraged students to excel in their chosen fields and bring recognition to their families, villages and the country.
Addressing the gathering, Shukla stressed the importance of creating a supportive environment for children. He said students should receive quality education and moral guidance to help them become responsible citizens and future leaders.
Nurture students like saplings through education and values
Referring to a sapling he planted earlier at the Lok Bhavan Government School campus, the Governor compared the growth of children to the development of a tree. He said a sapling requires constant care and protection before it becomes a strong tree, and students similarly need encouragement and safeguards against harmful influences.
He urged teachers and parents to protect children from drug abuse and the negative effects of excessive social media use. According to him, strong educational foundations and positive values are essential for shaping the next generation.
The Governor described Lok Bhavan Government School as a symbol of commitment to providing quality education to children from marginalized communities. He said the institution reflected efforts to ensure educational opportunities for all sections of society.
Shukla also praised Bharat Sevashram Sangh for its service-oriented activities in education, healthcare and disaster relief. He said the organisation’s guiding principle of serving humanity continues to inspire social welfare initiatives.
Highlighting government efforts in education and sports, the Governor said Telangana is working to become a major hub in both sectors. He added that initiatives such as Young India Integrated Residential Schools aim to provide equal opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds.
Earlier in the day, the Governor visited Lok Bhavan Government High School, planted a sapling on the campus and interacted with children at an anganwadi centre before distributing notebooks to students.
