Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to introduce a new Panchayat Raj monitoring system. The initiative includes a special dashboard and a Programme Monitoring Unit (PMU) to improve the implementation of welfare and development programmes across the state.
On Friday, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department Special Chief Secretary M. Dana Kishore issued a circular outlining the new system. The dashboard will help officials monitor every scheme. It will also track development works at the district, mandal and Gram Panchayat levels in real time.
As a result, officials can identify delays quickly and take timely action. Meanwhile, a dedicated PMU of IT and data experts will review scheme implementation every day. The unit will also provide analytical inputs to support decision-making.
Panchayat Raj monitoring to strengthen governance
The government launched the initiative following the directions of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka. It aims to strengthen governance through continuous monitoring of flagship programmes. In addition, the system will improve transparency, increase accountability and help officials resolve public grievances faster. It will also enable departments to address issues raised during Gram Sabha meetings more efficiently.
Meanwhile, the government has started preparing a Gram Panchayat Booklet. The booklet will provide comprehensive information on development works, welfare schemes, public services and village infrastructure. To support the initiative, the government has formed state-level committees. These committees will prepare the booklet’s format, conduct training programmes and develop the required IT systems.
Officials will now prepare a draft booklet in coordination with all departments. They will then submit it to the government for approval. The booklet will include details of welfare schemes, infrastructure, public services, individual benefits and community assets available in every Gram Panchayat.
