GHMC junior assistant caught taking ₹1 lakh bribe in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught a GHMC junior assistant after she allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh and accepted ₹1 lakh from a complainant for facilitating house construction permission work in Hyderabad.

The accused, Smt. B. Srilatha, worked in the Revenue and Tax section of the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Borabanda Circle-37 in Khairatabad Zone.

ACB officials said the GHMC junior assistant sought the bribe to help the complainant secure house construction permission. Officials said she handled the process from the Mee Seva application stage to the final approval.

The ACB’s CR-1 team laid the trap near Ratnadeep at Yousufguda Checkpost. Officers caught the accused when she allegedly received ₹1 lakh from the complainant.

Investigators recovered the tainted cash from her possession during the operation. Officials later took her into custody and sent her for judicial remand.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau asked citizens to report bribery demands through its toll-free number 1064. People can also file complaints through WhatsApp, Facebook and the Telangana ACB website. Officials said they would keep complainant identities confidential.
