Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday trapped an Irrigation and Command Area Development Department official in an irrigation engineer bribery case after he allegedly accepted a Rs. 50,000 bribe.

The accused officer was identified as Ganti Srikanth, Divisional Executive Engineer, currently serving at Palakurthi in Warangal district.

According to the ACB, Srikanth demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant at his residence in Bhavani Nagar, Hanumakonda.

Officials said he sought the money to record final measurements in M-books and process pending bills linked to the construction of 10 double-bedroom houses executed by the complainant.

The ACB said the bills had remained pending since September 2022.

ACB officials recovered the tainted Rs. 50,000 from the accused officer during the trap operation.

After the operation, ACB officials arrested the accused and produced him before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal.

Meanwhile, officials said the investigation was continuing. However, they withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons.
