Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday trapped a record assistant in a school record assistant bribery case after he allegedly accepted a Rs. 20,000 bribe in Hyderabad.
The accused was identified as S. Shivanand, Record Assistant in the office of the Deputy Inspector of Schools at Government High School, Ameerpet Mandal.
According to the ACB, Shivanand demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant for processing and submitting a pension benefit file.
Officials said he sought the money to process retirement benefit settlements linked to the complainant’s mother through higher authorities.
The ACB City Range-II unit caught the accused officer red-handed at around 2 pm on Sunday.
School record assistant bribery case under investigation
ACB officials recovered the tainted Rs. 20,000 from the accused officer during the trap operation.
Investigators alleged that Shivanand acted dishonestly and misused his official position to secure undue advantage.
After the trap, officials arrested the accused and produced him before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
Meanwhile, officials said the investigation was continuing. However, they withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons.
The ACB also urged citizens to report bribery demands through its toll-free number 1064 and official social media platforms.
