Suspended sub-registrar booked in disproportionate assets case

Hyderabad: Officials registered a disproportionate assets case against suspended Sub Registrar-II Davuluri Anand of the Sub-Registrar Office in Warangal Rural, Hanmakonda, for allegedly amassing wealth through corrupt practices and dubious means during service.

Authorities booked the case under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, amended in 2018.

Officials conducted surprise checks and carried out searches at the officer’s residence and properties linked to relatives earlier and again on Tuesday.

Disproportionate assets case reveals properties and cash

Investigators identified two residential houses worth ₹71.56 lakh and six open plots valued at ₹28.37 lakh during the searches.

Officials said the actual market value of these immovable assets could be significantly higher than the registered value.

The teams also seized ₹24.50 lakh in cash and bank deposits worth ₹7.05 lakh.

In addition, investigators found household articles valued at ₹6.07 lakh, one car and two motorcycles collectively worth ₹13.25 lakh.

Disproportionate assets case uncovers gold and silver

Officials also seized gold ornaments weighing 819.5 grams and silver ornaments weighing 2,264.5 grams.

The combined value of the gold and silver ornaments stood at ₹43.16 lakh.

According to investigators, the total value of assets identified so far reached nearly ₹1.94 crore.

Officials said they would continue verification to trace additional assets and determine the exact extent of disproportionate wealth allegedly accumulated by the accused officer.
