BASF to set up global digital hub in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BASF signed a Letter of Intent with the Telangana government to establish a global digital hub and a Global Service Hub in Hyderabad.

The global digital hub will begin operations in the second quarter of 2026. The agreement marked a major investment by the global chemical company.

The LOI exchange involved Sarvesh Singh, CEO of Telangana Lifesciences, and Tobias Dratt, President of Global Business Services at BASF. Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu attended the event.

Global digital hub to drive growth

Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad has emerged as a leading destination for Global Capability Centres. Notably, the city added over 75 GCCs in the past year.

He added that the government aims to attract more than 100 new GCCs. Moreover, it targets creating over one lakh jobs this year.

Further, he said Hyderabad is shifting from an incubation hub to an innovation and engineering centre. In addition, he said new initiatives will shape the next phase of growth.

The Minister said BASF’s decision to set up the global digital hub supports this vision. Therefore, he said the company plans to build a workforce of 3,000 employees in the city.

BASF operates in more than 200 countries and runs 234 manufacturing facilities worldwide. It employs over 1,08,000 people and reports annual revenue of about $60 billion.

The company selected Hyderabad after evaluating multiple global locations. Consequently, the twin hubs will function under BASF Global Business Services Private Limited.

They will support operations in finance, human resources, supply chain, regulatory services and in-house consulting. Meanwhile, the company will roll out hiring in phases.

Once operational, the hubs will employ 3,000 skilled professionals. Overall, the global digital hub will strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a major enterprise destination.
