Hyderabad: BRS complaint to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla over alleged police conduct during Assembly protests was submitted by party legislators and MLCs on Wednesday.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and deputy floor leader Harish Rao led the delegation to Lok Bhavan. The group included 10 BRS legislators and MLCs.
The delegation complained about the alleged treatment of BRS women legislators outside the Assembly. It also detailed several developments linked to the recent political tensions.
The leaders submitted a 13-page complaint to the Governor. They described the incidents that occurred on the Assembly premises and sought his intervention.
Speaking to the media later, KTR alleged that Telangana was witnessing an atmosphere resembling an Emergency under the Congress government.
BRS complaint to Governor raises Assembly concerns
KTR said the delegation had raised the Congress government’s alleged failures during its 1,000 days in office. The group also discussed urea shortages and Rythu Bima issues.
The BRS working president alleged that the government had failed to fulfil its promise of providing two lakh jobs. Problems faced by polytechnic students also figured in the representation.
KTR said BRS legislators wore black T-shirts while heading to the Assembly to protest the government’s record. However, he alleged that police stopped them.
He further alleged that male police personnel held former Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy by the throat. He also claimed that police pulled former minister Sunitha Lakshma Reddy’s saree.
The BRS leader alleged that police attacked party members and later registered cases against them. He also accused Congress leaders of mobilising supporters near the Erravelli farmhouse.
KTR alleged that BRS leaders had been wrongly attributed remarks before the Speaker. He also criticised Congress members for referring to Gaddam Prasad as a Dalit Speaker.
The BRS working president criticised the conduct inside and outside the Assembly. He also referred to the drum-beating reported near the Erravelli farmhouse.
According to KTR, the Governor assured the delegation that he would call the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. He said the officials would discuss the incidents outside the Assembly.
KTR added that the Governor told the delegation that such incidents were not desirable.
