Hyderabad: TPCC president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud criticised BRS leaders over their conduct towards Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Speaking at the Assembly media point on Wednesday, the TPCC chief said the Congress government had never wished harm on BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. He added that the government continued to treat KCR with due respect as the Opposition leader.
He recalled that Revanth Reddy had responded immediately when KCR slipped in a bathroom in the past. The Chief Minister had arranged his transfer to a hospital through a green channel at midnight, he said.
The Congress leader also recalled that Revanth Reddy personally enquired about KCR’s health when the former Chief Minister attended the Assembly. According to him, KCR received the second-highest level of security in the State after the Chief Minister.
Mahesh Kumar Goud questions BRS conduct
The TPCC chief questioned the BRS over a reported pindam ritual performed for Revanth Reddy in Sircilla. He asked whether such conduct was appropriate after people had elected the Congress to power.
He also referred to comments made by BRS MLC Tatha Madhu about the Speaker’s position. The Congress leader said the media should take note of the manner in which the BRS leader spoke about the Speaker.
He alleged that Telangana society had rejected what he described as the BRS leadership’s declining political standards. The TPCC chief also dismissed BRS claims that KCR faced a threat to his life as political drama.
He alleged that KCR’s own family members wanted his health to deteriorate. He referred to videos in which KCR’s daughter Kavitha allegedly spoke about Harish Rao performing rituals against him.
The Congress leader questioned why the party should face accusations when, according to his claim, members of KCR’s own family had expressed such views.
He also referred to the Congress party’s decision to forgive those responsible for the death of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The TPCC chief said the party had shown such generosity in the past.
Finally, he said people continued to respect KCR for his role in the Telangana movement. He said the Congress wanted KCR to recover quickly and return to the Assembly.
He added that the Congress government remained committed to providing justice to Dalits and weaker sections.
