Telangana Gyan Bharatam Mission implementation stepped up for manuscript preservation
Hyderabad: The Telangana government stepped up implementation of the Gyan Bharatam Mission to survey, document, conserve and digitise the State’s valuable manuscript heritage.
Special Chief Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Heritage A. Vani Prasad chaired a review meeting on implementation of the national initiative in Telangana.
District Collectors and district nodal officers participated in the meeting. Special Secretary for Education Venkatesh Dhotre and Tourism Director Ranjit Nayak co-chaired the review.
Senior officials from Heritage Telangana also attended the meeting. Representatives of the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management participated as well. Officials from the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation were also present during the discussions.
Gyan Bharatam Mission focuses on manuscript heritage
The Gyan Bharatam Mission was a flagship national initiative of the Union Ministry of Culture. The programme aimed to survey and document India’s invaluable manuscript heritage. It also focused on conserving manuscripts and digitising them for preservation.
During the review, officials discussed measures required for the effective implementation of the Gyan Bharatam Mission across Telangana. The participation of district Collectors and nodal officers formed part of efforts to coordinate implementation at the district level.
The meeting also covered issues related to tourism promotion and development across Telangana’s districts. Officials examined the distinctive tourism potential available in individual districts during the meeting.
The discussions focused on identifying those district-specific tourism strengths and taking measures to promote them effectively. Officials from the State’s culture, heritage, education and tourism sectors participated in the deliberations.
The meeting therefore covered both implementation of the manuscript conservation initiative and measures for strengthening district-level tourism promotion. The government sought coordinated action among the concerned departments and district administrations as it moved ahead with the national manuscript heritage initiative in Telangana.
