Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday accused the Congress government of Assembly democracy mockery by allegedly using the House for political drama. Speaking informally to reporters in the Assembly lobby, Talasani alleged that the government had avoided discussions on pressing public issues.
He claimed that the government had instead created controversies during the first two days of the Assembly session. According to him, issues such as Section 22-A and GO 97 had not received proper discussion.
Talasani also questioned the suspension of BRS legislators and alleged inconsistencies in the government’s approach towards Opposition members. He asked why an MLA who allegedly wished for former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s death in Markook mandal had not faced suspension.
In contrast, he questioned the suspension of former minister Malla Reddy, who was reportedly in Tirupati. “They suspended KTR, who was not even present in the House, and also suspended Gudem Mahipal Reddy, who was present,” Talasani said.
Assembly democracy mockery charge focuses on suspensions
Talasani alleged that the Congress government had acted because it feared facing the Opposition on important issues. He also referred to Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and alleged that the Speaker was being “insulted” despite belonging to a Dalit community.
However, Talasani maintained that the BRS respected the constitutional position of the Speaker. He recalled that the party had not fielded a candidate against Prasad Kumar. Talasani said the BRS had taken that decision out of respect for the Speaker’s post.
The BRS MLA also condemned the circulation of AI-generated images involving party legislators. Moreover, he questioned the government’s decision to suspend several Opposition members and challenged the urgency behind the action.
Assembly democracy mockery allegation extends to BRS arrests
Talasani alleged that BRS leaders had been arrested when they attempted to visit KCR’s farmhouse at Erravalli. He further claimed that Congress cadres had attacked BRS workers at Jawahar Nagar police station.
The former minister linked these incidents to his broader allegations against the Congress government’s handling of the Opposition. Talasani alleged that the government had no genuine intention of holding meaningful discussions in the Assembly.
He again questioned why the government had moved urgently to suspend BRS MLAs instead of allowing debate on public issues. According to Talasani, the Assembly should have focused on matters such as Section 22-A and GO 97 rather than political controversies.
