Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday rejected KCR safety allegations raised by BRS leaders and said Congress had never wished harm on the former Chief Minister.
Speaking at the Assembly media point, Goud dismissed claims that the Congress government had remained indifferent to K. Chandrashekar Rao’s health and safety. He said Congress had never wished any harm on KCR and would never do so.
Goud recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had ensured prompt medical assistance when KCR suffered a fall in the past. Moreover, he said Revanth Reddy had enquired about KCR’s health whenever the BRS chief visited the Assembly.
“KCR is receiving the highest level of security in the state after the Chief Minister,” Goud said. He maintained that Congress respected KCR both as a senior Opposition leader and as a leader of the Telangana movement.
KCR safety allegations draw Congress response
Goud accused BRS leaders of indulging in “low-level politics” while raising KCR safety allegations against the Congress government. He also questioned the conduct of BRS workers who allegedly performed funeral rites for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Rajanna Sircilla district.
The TPCC president referred to statements attributed to BRS leaders and accused the Opposition of unnecessarily creating controversy. He said the BRS had sought to create an issue over KCR’s health and security despite the protection provided to him.
Goud also invoked the Congress party’s response to those responsible for the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He said Congress had shown the magnanimity to forgive even those responsible for Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination.
KCR safety allegations rejected as Goud wishes recovery
Goud reiterated that the Congress had no intention of causing harm to the BRS president. He said the government had provided KCR with a high level of security and had shown concern for his health.
The TPCC chief also expressed hope that KCR would recover soon. He wished for the former Chief Minister’s return to the Telangana Legislative Assembly following his recovery.
