Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha member and BC Welfare Association President R. Krishnaiah has demanded the immediate regularisation of 8,000 temporary teachers. The teachers work in BC, SC and ST Gurukul schools.
Krishnaiah spoke at a meeting of the State Temporary Employees Association at BC Bhavan on Sunday. He pointed out that Supreme Court and High Court judgments exist for regularising these temporary teachers. According to him, they have been working for 10 to 20 years.
Krishnaiah urges CM to regularise temporary teachers
Krishnaiah said many states have made lakhs of temporary employees permanent. These include Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Punjab, among others. He added that the state too had made contract daily wage employees permanent in the past.
“But there are still thousands of outsourcing, part-time, guest teachers and guest lecturers,” he said. “Injustice is done to them and labour is exploited,” Krishnaiah added. Further, he urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to take the initiative and make a policy decision on the issue.
