Hyderabad: BJP national leader and Medak MP Raghunandan Rao used the BJP Khammam rally campaign to call for ending Left influence in the district. He urged party workers to strengthen the BJP ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting in Secunderabad on May 10.
Rao visited Khammam city on Tuesday. During the tour, he accused the Congress government in Telangana of neglecting farmers by refusing to implement the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. He said the decision hurt farmers affected by recent fire accidents that destroyed nearly 200 acres of paddy fields.
As part of the BJP Khammam rally campaign, Rao took part in wall painting activities in the city. He also appealed to people to attend Modi’s meeting at Parade Grounds. Later, he spoke to reporters about national politics, state affairs and farmers’ issues.
According to Rao, voters across the country supported development, trust and stable governance. He alleged that parties driven by family rule and personality cults were steadily losing public support. Meanwhile, he said political developments from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu reflected growing support for the BJP under Modi’s leadership.
BJP Khammam rally highlights farmer issues
Rao criticised the Congress and Communist parties over the INDIA alliance. He said the two parties claimed unity at the national level. However, they continued fighting each other in Kerala.
He added that the BJP’s victories in Gujarat, West Bengal and Puducherry showed that voters were rejecting both Congress and Left parties. At the same time, Rao praised Modi for treating all states equally and leading the country on a development path.
The Medak MP also attacked the Telangana government over farmers’ issues. He said farmers faced severe hardships across the state. In addition, he pointed to recent fire accidents that damaged nearly 200 acres of paddy fields in Khammam district.
According to Rao, affected farmers could have received compensation if the state had implemented the crop insurance scheme. Instead, he blamed the Revanth Reddy government for rejecting the programme. As a result, farmers failed to receive relief.
He urged the Congress government not to politicise farmers’ lives and state development. Rao said states that respected farmers achieved faster development.
The BJP leader also called on party workers to focus on bringing the BJP to power in Telangana in the next Assembly elections. He recalled that one of the BJP’s only two MPs elected in 1980 came from Hanumakonda in Telangana.
Rao said the BJP had expanded across the country and now aimed to raise the saffron flag on Kakatiya soil. He appealed to Khammam voters to reject Left parties and support the BJP for political change and district development.
He further urged party workers and the public to attend Modi’s public meeting at Secunderabad Parade Grounds in large numbers on May 10. BJP Khammam district president Nelluri Koteswara Rao led the programme. Several BJP state and district leaders attended the event.
