Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju directed officials to resolve pending issues linked to Telangana railway projects at the earliest and ensure timely execution.
Jaju held a review meeting with South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Monday.
The meeting examined project progress, land acquisition, administrative approvals and other issues affecting implementation. It also reviewed the support required from the State government.
Officials informed the Chief Secretary that Detailed Project Reports for 17 railway projects had reached the Railway Board. The projects cover 2,023 km and carry an estimated cost of ₹50,870 crore.
Jaju said railway connectivity remained crucial for Telangana’s economic, industrial and regional development. Therefore, he asked departmental officials and District Collectors to speed up pending clearances.
Telangana railway projects face multiple pending issues
The meeting examined about 21 issues involving Telangana railway projects. These included railway underpasses, overbridges, approach roads, road widening and doubling of railway lines.
Officials also discussed better public transport connectivity to Charlapalli Railway Station. Jaju asked departments to conduct joint inspections with South Central Railway officials.
The inspections should identify practical solutions for pending issues, he said. Consequently, departments should coordinate closely instead of handling project-related matters separately.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, Jaju also asked officials to prepare plans for railway line expansion in the Future City, Outer Ring Road and Regional Ring Road areas.
He directed officials from Municipal Administration, HMWSSB, Revenue, Energy and Roads & Buildings departments to coordinate with South Central Railway.
The Chief Secretary stressed that State departments and railway authorities must maintain continuous coordination. He assured South Central Railway that the State government would provide the required cooperation and support.
PM Gati Shakti funding sought for future connectivity
Jaju directed officials to prepare comprehensive DPRs to seek funds under the Union government’s PM Gati Shakti initiative.
He also sought detailed plans for MMTS expansion. In addition, he asked officials to prepare proposals for railway terminals in the ORR and RRR regions around Hyderabad.
The plans should consider the city’s future transport requirements, he said. Officials must also examine land acquisition needs for future railway connectivity, including bullet train corridors.
The Chief Secretary called for coordinated action to accelerate railway infrastructure development across Telangana.
The review meeting was attended by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, TGIIC MD Shashanka, RTC MD Nagi Reddy and Special Secretary Finance Sikta Patnaik.
Medchal-Malkajgiri Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy and City Police Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Joel Davis also attended.
District Collectors from Sangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Siddipet, Hanamkonda, Karimnagar, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Jangaon and Vikarabad participated.
Senior officials from South Central Railway and other State departments also attended the meeting.
