Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police stepped up Ganesh immersion traffic preparations across the city, with officials focusing on crowd safety and procession management. Police also reviewed diversion plans and infrastructure requirements ahead of the upcoming Ganesh Festival and immersion processions.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, Joel Davis reviewed the preparations with Traffic Inspectors and senior officers. He directed officials to complete all preparatory work on priority.
Traffic officials were asked to inspect routes earmarked for idol processions. They were also directed to check clearance levels at flyovers and underpasses along the routes.
In addition, officers were instructed to prepare traffic diversion plans for areas affected by the processions. Police also planned measures to regulate traffic around idol sales points and Ganesh pandals across Hyderabad.
Special arrangements were being made to manage devotees visiting the Khairatabad Ganesh. Authorities focused on controlling traffic and crowds around the area during the festival period.
Ganesh immersion traffic routes to get drone monitoring
The Ganesh immersion traffic arrangements included the deployment of adequate police personnel at key locations. Officials also planned barricades, traffic signage, temporary toilets, parking facilities and public address systems.
The Joint Commissioner directed officials to ensure that road repairs were completed before the processions. He also instructed them to get potholes filled along important routes.
Meanwhile, police planned to deploy drones to monitor key procession routes. The measure was intended to strengthen surveillance and assist officers in managing movement during the immersion processions.
Senior officers also reviewed arrangements for bandobust personnel. In addition, the meeting examined traffic management requirements for VIP movements during the festival and immersion period.
Joel Davis instructed traffic officials to maintain close coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other departments. He also sought coordination with festival organisers to ensure timely completion of the required works.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police appealed to citizens, festival organisers and other stakeholders to cooperate with authorities. Police asked them to follow traffic regulations and support arrangements for a safe and peaceful Ganesh Festival and immersion procession.
