Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy of land grabbing in Telangana.
Rama Rao alleged that tribal and assigned lands were “disappearing” across the State. Moreover, he claimed that land grabbing in Telangana had become rampant under the Congress government.
The BRS leader also linked former minister Konda Surekha’s removal from the Cabinet to a land-related controversy. He alleged that the controversy had resulted in her exit from the ministry.
Rama Rao further described the Congress administration as a “30 per cent commission government.” He also claimed that tribals had faced attacks over land in the Chief Minister’s constituency.
Land grabbing in Telangana rampant, alleges KTR
Rama Rao made the allegations during a PowerPoint presentation at BRS Bhavan. The party organised the programme for people affected by the 22-A prohibited land list.
During the presentation, he said land values had risen substantially during the previous BRS government. In contrast, he alleged that the 22-A issue had caused severe hardship under the Congress administration. Targeting ministers over alleged land grabbing in Telangana, Rama Rao accused them of turning into a “Dandupalya gang.”
He also accused Revanth Reddy of targeting lands surrounding Hyderabad. According to Rama Rao, the Chief Minister had acquired thousands of acres in the name of the Musi project. In addition, the BRS working president alleged that authorities had allotted five acres in Future City to the Chief Minister’s brother.
Rama Rao also levelled broader corruption allegations against the Congress government. He claimed that every scheme implemented during its tenure had a scam behind it. The presentation also highlighted difficulties that people allegedly faced because of the 22-A prohibited land list.
One affected person said the inclusion of their property on the list had prevented them from securing loans against it. According to the person, they had approached the Collector seeking a solution.
However, the affected person said the authorities had not resolved the problem. The complaint formed part of the grievances presented during the BRS programme at BRS Bhavan.
