Hyderabad: Women staged a protest outside the municipal office in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar district, on Monday over a 10-day drinking water shortage. Residents of wards 13 and 23 had reportedly not received Mission Bhagiratha water during the period.
The protesters sat outside the municipal office carrying empty water bottles to highlight the shortage. They said the disruption had left residents struggling to meet their daily drinking water needs.
Residents said they had earlier brought the supply problem to the notice of municipal staff. However, they alleged that officials failed to respond to their complaints, prompting the women to stage a dharna.
The protest continued for nearly two hours, with residents demanding immediate restoration of the water supply.

Municipal RO Salam intervened during the protest and assured the women that their concerns would be addressed. Following his assurance, the protesters called off the dharna.
However, there was no immediate clarity on when the Mission Bhagiratha water supply to wards 13 and 23 would be restored. Residents said they had endured the shortage for 10 days before staging Monday’s protest.
