Seven hotel licences suspended as TG SAFE finds rotten food, fungus

Hyderabad: TG SAFE officials suspended licences of seven hotels in Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts after inspections revealed hygiene lapses. Citing public health concerns, they ordered the outlets to halt operations immediately and had them closed. Officials also stopped operations at another restaurant that was running without an FSSAI licence.

According to officials, inspectors found rotten vegetables at some outlets and fungus on food items at others. Several kitchens stored vegetarian and non-vegetarian items together in fridges. Some kept expired food, while others placed cooked food on newspapers. Officials said these practices posed a risk to public health.

The suspended establishments include People Combine Hospitality LLP (7 Mid Way Plaza) at Peddakaparthi in Chityal mandal, Nalgonda district. Ammacheti Vanta (M/s Anjana Tiffins) in Narketpally also lost its licence. In Suryapet, the action covered Tanuja Hotels and Sri Mamata Lodge and Restaurant.

Ammacheti Vanta had rotten vegetables and fungus on cashew nuts and gram flour. Its freezers and cooking equipment were also unhygienic.

Tanuja Hotels had a damaged, slippery kitchen floor and drainage traps clogged with food waste. Inspectors also found cockroaches, flies, and rotten tomatoes and lemons there. At Sri Aadya Grand Restaurant, the cooking oil in use had turned dark. Its fridge held vegetarian and non-vegetarian items together, and it also kept expired and unlabelled food.

At AVR Group of Hotels (Sangam Hotel), officials found leftover chicken pieces meant for biryani and expired food items. They also found rodent droppings on food and fungus on drumstick pieces. Highway Hospitality stored edible ice cubes together with raw meat. It also kept unlabelled items and rusted stands.

Sri Mamata Lodge and Restaurant had rotten eggs, spoiled vegetables, and greasy stoves and exhaust fans. Inspectors noted that the premises lacked proper drainage and ventilation.

Nakrekal restaurant ran without FSSAI licence

Officials found Hotel Saipriya Family Restaurant in Nakrekal, Nalgonda district, operating without an FSSAI licence in unhygienic conditions. The restaurant also had no staff health records or pest control records. Officials ordered it to stop operations immediately.
