Hyderabad: Dundra Kumaraswamy, National President of BC Dal and Chairman of the BC Reservations Achievement Coordination JAC, has urged eligible graduates in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts to register as voters for the Graduate Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections.
Addressing an awareness meeting attended by graduates and intellectuals in Rangareddy district, Kumaraswamy said voting was an important democratic responsibility and a means of ensuring accountability in public life. He stressed that graduate voters could play a crucial role in raising issues concerning unemployed youth and employees. Elected representatives must be held accountable for their promises and their response to public concerns, he added.
Urging graduates to look beyond political affiliations, Kumaraswamy called on them to assess candidates based on merit, qualifications, competence, track record and commitment to public service. He said voters should support capable candidates who could effectively address public issues rather than be swayed by election promises alone.
Call to increase voter awareness
Kumaraswamy also emphasised the need to increase voter awareness and encourage more eligible graduates to participate in the democratic process. NRI Krishna Reddy, Raju, social activist Gopal Reddy, Gali Srinivasa Rao and Naveen were among those who attended the meeting, along with several graduates and intellectuals.
