National BC Dal seeks stronger BC welfare measures in Telangana

Hyderabad: National BC Dal president Dundra Kumaraswamy submitted a memorandum to Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Saturday, urging the State government to strengthen BC welfare measures and improve the socio-economic development of Backward Classes.

The memorandum sought effective implementation of 42 percent reservation for BCs, statutory enforcement of the BC Sub-Plan, strengthening of the BC Finance Corporation, and release of pending scholarship and fee reimbursement dues.

It also called for the modernisation of BC hostels and Gurukul institutions, expansion of skill development and employment opportunities, protection of traditional BC occupations, and proportional representation of BC communities in nominated government posts.

Committee proposed to monitor BC welfare measures

The memorandum proposed constituting a quarterly review committee under the Chief Secretary to monitor the implementation of BC welfare measures and ensure timely execution of government schemes.

Kumaraswamy said BC communities had played a significant role in Telangana’s development and stressed the need for effective implementation of welfare programmes while safeguarding their constitutional rights.

Yadav Sangham leaders Manikantheswara Yadav and Venkat were also present during the meeting.
