Hyderabad: The Khammam pesticide incident left a father and daughter dead and his son critically ill. Police registered a case after the family was found at a farm in Gandrai.
The incident occurred in Appalanarasimhapuram village of Nelakondapalli mandal in Khammam district. The deceased father was identified as Pusuluri Srinivasa Rao, while his daughter was identified as Lasya.
Srinivasa Rao lived in Appalanarasimhapuram with his wife and two children. He owned 10 acres of agricultural land and also cultivated additional land on lease.
According to the report, he had taken another 10 acres on lease in Gandrai. He had also leased 10 acres in Pedamandava village of NTR district for farming.
It remained unclear whether Srinivasa Rao faced financial difficulties or suffered losses from agriculture. Meanwhile, he took his son Nikhil and daughter Lasya to the leased farm in Gandrai on a motorcycle.
At the farm, Srinivasa Rao reportedly gave Nikhil and Lasya a cool drink mixed with insecticide. He then consumed the same drink himself, according to the report.
Locals later noticed the three people lying in the agricultural field. They immediately arranged medical assistance and rushed them towards a hospital.
However, Srinivasa Rao died while they were taking him for treatment. His daughter Lasya later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Doctors treated Nikhil after the incident, but his condition remained critical. Subsequently, his family shifted him to Hyderabad for further treatment.
Villagers told the report that they were unaware of any financial problems involving Srinivasa Rao. They also said they did not understand what had led to the incident.
