Hyderabad: Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said the State government was transforming Telangana Gurukul institutions into centres of excellence on par with leading corporate educational institutions. He said the government would not compromise on students’ welfare. It would also provide quality education, nutritious food and modern infrastructure.
The Minister made the remarks on Thursday after inspecting the Victoria Memorial Residential Educational Institution at Saroornagar in Hyderabad. During the visit, he reviewed academic standards, hostel accommodation, sanitation, dining facilities and other welfare measures.
He distributed Welcome Kits containing 11 essential items to newly admitted students. The kits included a plate, tumbler, bowl, cup, spoon, bedsheet, towel, blanket, black and white shoes, socks and a school bag. He also felicitated students who had excelled in national-level sporting events.
Telangana Gurukul institutions focus on student welfare
Laxman Kumar said the government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had given top priority to strengthening the Gurukul education system. As a result, students from economically weaker sections would receive educational opportunities comparable to the country’s best institutions.
“There will be absolutely no compromise when it comes to the welfare of our students. Poverty must never become a barrier to talent. Every child studying in our welfare institutions deserves quality education, nutritious food, modern infrastructure and an environment that nurtures excellence,” he said.
Further, the Minister said the government had increased diet charges in welfare hostels after several years. The higher allocation would help institutions provide wholesome and nutritious meals. Better nutrition would improve students’ health, mental well-being and academic performance.
Moreover, Laxman Kumar said Gurukul students had consistently succeeded in national entrance examinations, including NEET, JEE and EAMCET. They had also excelled in sports and other co-curricular activities. He urged students of the Victoria Memorial Residential Educational Institution to achieve similar success.
Infrastructure upgrades underway across welfare institutions
Meanwhile, the Minister said the government was modernising classrooms, expanding digital learning facilities and upgrading laboratories and libraries. It was also recruiting qualified teaching staff. In addition, it had released funds that remained pending during the previous administration. The release of funds had accelerated development works in welfare educational institutions.
“The Government is determined not merely to secure cent per cent pass results but to prepare students for success in higher education, competitive examinations and leadership roles. Our vision is to create an ecosystem where every Gurukul student can realise his or her full potential and contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” he said.
Government Secretary Vijayendra Boyi, Victoria Memorial Educational Institution Secretary Salma Banu, Principal Narasimha Reddy, Superintendent Lakshmi Parvathi, senior officials, faculty members and staff attended the programme.
