Telangana CEO directs officials to speed up Special Intensive Revision mapping

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy directed officials to speed up the Special Intensive Revision mapping process during a video conference with District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers on Monday.

The CEO instructed Collectors and DEOs to achieve 90 percent mapping progress by the end of the month. He said the Election Commission of India was likely to announce the Special Intensive Revision programme shortly.

Sudharshan Reddy directed officials to involve residential associations and gated communities in the mapping exercise. He also appealed to government employees to voluntarily contact Booth Level Officers and complete their mapping process.

The CEO advised EROs, AEROs, BLO Supervisors and BLOs to jointly visit gated communities and slum areas. He directed them to involve local representatives and carry out the mapping process effectively.

Special Intensive Revision focus on voter verification

Sudharshan Reddy instructed DEOs and EROs to establish help desks to assist voters during the mapping exercise. He also directed officials to involve self-help groups, ration shop dealers and employee associations in the programme.

The CEO said officials should identify deceased voters, migrated voters and people who permanently changed addresses. He instructed authorities to take action according to Standard Operating Procedures.

He also directed officials to complete mapping of VVIP and VIP voters in their respective constituencies. Collectors were instructed to conduct meetings with political parties every Wednesday to review the mapping progress.

Sudharshan Reddy warned BLOs against sharing information or OTPs with unauthorized persons. He said authorities would take strict action against those violating the guidelines.

The CEO instructed officials to identify incorrect mappings and rectify them immediately. He also directed Collectors to widely publicise the SIR process through print and electronic media.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vasan Venkateshwar Reddy, nodal officers, project managers, technical staff and other officials attended the video conference.
