Seethakka says Streenidhi empowers women financially

Hyderabad: Telangana Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Saturday said Streenidhi had emerged as a strong platform for women’s financial independence.

She attended the annual action plan implementation programme of Streenidhi held at Praja Bhavan.

Special Chief Secretary Dana Kishore, Panchayat Raj Commissioner Divya Devarajan, Streenidhi Managing Director Vidyasagar Reddy, Deputy Managing Director Srinath and employees participated in the event.

Seethakka inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

During the programme, employees formed the Streenidhi Staff Welfare Association. The Minister congratulated them and said the association would strengthen unity among employees.

She also urged staff to protect the institution while safeguarding the economic welfare of lakhs of women linked to Streenidhi.

Streenidhi women empowerment model gains recognition

Addressing the gathering, Seethakka said the Constitution defined both rights and responsibilities.

She described Streenidhi as a family-like institution and said employees could protect their future only by safeguarding the organisation.

The Minister said the Congress government launched Streenidhi in 2011. She added that the present Revanth Reddy government was further strengthening the institution.

According to her, the organisation was created to protect women from microfinance firms and private moneylenders charging high interest rates.

Seethakka said Streenidhi had so far provided loans worth Rs 24,000 crore to more than 32 lakh women.

She described the institution as a genuine women’s bank and expressed hope that it would become a trusted financial platform for women across Telangana.

The Minister also said several states were following the Telangana Streenidhi model.

Streenidhi women empowerment linked to state growth

Seethakka said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy aimed to make one crore women millionaires.

To support that goal, the government increased interest-free loans for women’s groups from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

The Minister said the government believed Telangana’s development depended on women’s progress.

She pointed out that women’s contribution to India’s GDP remained limited to 18 percent, while developed nations recorded nearly 40 percent participation.

According to her, Telangana women should reach similar levels of economic participation with government support.

Seethakka also said the government encouraged small businesses and self-employment opportunities for women, especially in rural areas.

She added that the government was helping rural women secure marketing opportunities for their products and improve livelihoods.

The Minister alleged that some groups were deliberately spreading false propaganda against Streenidhi.

She said certain individuals were trying to damage the institution’s reputation through baseless allegations.

Seethakka urged employees to counter false claims with facts.

Streenidhi women empowerment focus includes employee welfare

The Minister said the previous government removed 16 employees from the organisation.

She alleged that the same individuals were now attempting to weaken the institution through false campaigns.

Seethakka said the present government supported employees and had not removed a single worker from Streenidhi.

She added that promotions and transfers were already completed in the institution. The government also completed 100 percent transfers in SERP.

The Minister clarified that the government’s objective was to strengthen Streenidhi and not remove employees.

She also praised Managing Director Vidyasagar Reddy for his contribution to building the institution.

As Vidyasagar Reddy is set to retire soon, Seethakka and employees felicitated him during the programme.

The Minister expressed confidence that Streenidhi would scale greater heights under new leadership.

She said Streenidhi functioned as an institution run by women for women and called for collective efforts to strengthen women’s financial development.
