Telangana to implement EHS through dedicated healthcare trust

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Monday announced that the state government will implement the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) through a dedicated Employee Health Care Trust.

He said the government will constitute the trust within the next few days.

The Chief Secretary made the announcement during a meeting with members of the Joint Staff Council and representatives of various employees’ associations at the Secretariat.

Officials discussed measures to strengthen healthcare services for government employees, pensioners and their dependent family members.

Employee Health Care Trust to manage EHS services

Ramakrishna Rao said the government was committed to providing accessible, quality and hassle-free healthcare services across Telangana.

Furthermore, he said the proposed trust would serve as an institutional mechanism to deliver healthcare benefits efficiently and transparently.

According to the Chief Secretary, the government will prepare operational guidelines after reviewing suggestions from employees’ associations.

He also clarified that the trust will maintain a separate bank account.

Additionally, both the government and employees will contribute equally to the fund.

The Chief Secretary said the trust will function autonomously and take decisions independently in the interests of beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, he assured representatives that the government was taking all necessary steps to establish a sustainable healthcare system.

He also said the government will examine suggestions from employee organisations before finalising the operational framework.

Representatives of various associations welcomed the proposal and offered suggestions on governance, financial management, service delivery and grievance redressal mechanisms.

Special Chief Secretaries Benhur Mahesh Ekka and Dana Kishore, along with senior officials and representatives of employees’ organisations, attended the meeting.
