Hyderabad: Global biotechnology company Regeneron has selected Hyderabad to establish its first Global Capability Centre outside the United States, Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Tuesday.
The minister stated that the Regeneron Hyderabad GCC would strengthen Telangana’s global reputation in the life sciences and technology sectors.
A delegation led by Regeneron Senior Vice President Bari Kowal met Sridhar Babu at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
During the meeting, Bari Kowal and Telangana Life Sciences CEO Sarvesh Singh exchanged Memorandums of Understanding.
Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad was emerging as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres because of its infrastructure and skilled workforce.
He stated that the growing GCC ecosystem in Hyderabad would create major employment opportunities for IT engineers and technology professionals.
According to the minister, Regeneron already operates offices and manufacturing facilities in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.
Regeneron Hyderabad GCC to support global operations
Sridhar Babu said the Hyderabad centre would function as a major global hub for the company.
He stated that the proposed GCC would support clinical trial operations, data science, artificial intelligence engineering and commercial analytics.
The minister said Hyderabad currently hosts nearly 450 Global Capability Centres.
He added that the city emerged as the country’s second-largest GCC destination after surpassing Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
According to Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s ecosystem in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, data sciences and digital technologies was attracting global corporations.
He also said the state government was giving priority to research, manufacturing, industrial policy and infrastructure development.
The minister stated that projects such as Genome Valley expansion and the proposed Green Pharma City would further strengthen Telangana’s life sciences sector.
He further said the Regeneron Hyderabad GCC would create a large number of high-value jobs in the coming years.
Regeneron Executive Director Rajiv Onat, company representatives and Industries Department officials also attended the meeting.
