Kavitha accuses BRS, Congress of failing Palamuru-Rangareddy project

Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha accused both the BRS and Congress governments of failing the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

She alleged that both parties sacrificed the project for commissions.

Kavitha addressed the ‘Palamuru-Rangareddy Project Sadhana Sabha’ held at Jilled Chowdari Guda in Rangareddy district.

She alleged that the BRS criticised Andhra leaders to secure votes. However, the party later indulged in corruption in the name of irrigation projects during its ten-year rule.

Kavitha claimed that the previous BRS government spent Rs.33,000 crore on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project. Despite that expenditure, she alleged that the government failed to provide irrigation water even to 33 acres.

Palamuru-Rangareddy project became centre of political attack

Meanwhile, Kavitha alleged that a senior leader changed the project design in collusion with contractors for commissions.

She said authorities shifted the source point from Jurala to Srisailam. According to her, the decision was an unforgivable mistake.

Kavitha claimed the design change triggered disputes with Andhra Pradesh.

She also targeted the Congress government over delays in project execution.

Kavitha mocked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s claims regarding the project. She alleged that the government had not carried out any significant work so far.

At the same time, she alleged that the Congress government cleared bills worth Rs.6,000 crore in the project’s name and collected commissions.

Kavitha also claimed that Congress MLAs received a share in those commissions.

She warned that her party would launch a padayatra against the Congress government if authorities failed to restart works before Dasara.

Kavitha promised that her party would provide irrigation water to 10 lakh acres under the project if voted to power.

She also said her party would establish a Water Commission to address irrigation-related issues.

The Telangana Rakshana Sena leader urged people to pressure Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant national status to the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.
