Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday said service to humanity is the highest form of worship and the noblest path to attaining the divine.
Addressing a 108-member group of devotees at Lok Bhavan, the Governor said true spirituality extends beyond rituals and religious observances. Moreover, he said people realise spirituality through selfless service and by renouncing ego.
The devotees, led by Ajay Bhai, visited the Governor after offering prayers at the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam. Ajay Bhai heads the Rashtra Mandir Vishva Ramayan Ashram under the Triveni Seva Mission.
Service to humanity reflects true spirituality
The Governor said individuals become leaders by performing their responsibilities sincerely. Additionally, he said dedication makes an able administrator, while spirituality and selfless service shape a true saint. He praised Ajay Bhai for dedicating his life to social service with humility. Furthermore, he said the spiritual leader had inspired many people through his mission.
Shiv Pratap Shukla also said reading or discussing sacred scriptures alone was not enough. Instead, he urged people to reflect their teachings in daily life. According to the Governor, ego remains the greatest obstacle to spiritual fulfilment. Therefore, he said humility is essential to move closer to God.
Service to humanity and spiritual values highlighted
The Governor described Srisailam as one of India’s rare pilgrimage centres where both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peetha are located. He said millions of devotees visit the shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba to seek blessings. Moreover, he said a pilgrimage to Srisailam offers inner peace, spiritual solace and divine grace.
The Governor also expressed his desire to visit the temple in the near future. Later, winners of the Telangana Junior Basketball League met the Governor at Lok Bhavan. He congratulated the young sportspersons and encouraged them to achieve greater success through dedication, discipline and perseverance.
