Revanth Reddy urges parents to trust government schools

Hyderabad: Inaugurating a modern Telangana Public School (TPS) at Arutla village in Rangareddy district, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged parents not to view government schools as inferior and said public education can produce future national leaders.

The Chief Minister said he studied in a government school before becoming Chief Minister. He also recalled that former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao studied in a government school.

Revanth Reddy said children studying in government institutions today should aspire to lead the country in the future. He described the Arutla TPS as a model for Telangana’s education sector and said the village had become an inspiration for the entire state.

The school now offers education from nursery to Class 10. According to the Chief Minister, 1,814 students are currently enrolled. He said demand for admissions has increased significantly. The response, he added, is comparable to leading corporate schools.

Revanth Reddy noted that government schools once carried a negative perception. However, he expressed confidence that the Arutla institution would emerge as a model for the state.

Government schools receive major investment from Telangana

The Chief Minister said nearly 27 lakh students are studying in government schools across Telangana. He stated that the government is spending ₹27,000 crore on education and has allocated 8 per cent of the state budget to the sector.

According to Revanth Reddy, the allocation is an investment in future generations rather than a routine expenditure. He said the government decided to transform public education after assuming office. For that purpose, it constituted an Education Commission under Akunuri Murali.

The commission later submitted recommendations aimed at strengthening the education system. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of skill development. He said the government is constructing Young India Integrated Schools across the state.

He announced that the Young India Skill University will be inaugurated on December 9. Highlighting the importance of sports, Revanth Reddy said India must improve its performance at the Olympic Games.

He said the government is establishing the Young India Sports University under the public-private partnership model. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Telangana athletes would win an Olympic gold medal in the future.
