Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar on Thursday accused the Telangana government of fiscal mismanagement and alleged that the Congress administration was misleading people with claims of “Telangana Rising” and a proposed “$3 Trillion economy”.
In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Sravan Kumar cited the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report for 2025-26 and alleged revenue shortfalls, excessive borrowing and administrative failures under the State government.
He claimed Telangana recorded revenue receipts of Rs 1.81 lakh crore against the budget estimate of Rs 2.29 lakh crore and described it as a major revenue failure.
The BRS leader also questioned lower-than-expected collections from land revenue, excise, stamps and registrations, along with non-tax revenue sectors.
Fiscal mismanagement allegations target borrowing trends
Dasoju Sravan Kumar further alleged that the government exceeded the Legislature-approved borrowing limit by raising Rs 77,762 crore against the sanctioned Rs 54,009 crore.
Criticising the financial projections for 2026-27, he termed the revenue targets unrealistic and accused the government of pushing Telangana into a growing debt burden.
He also alleged that the State government failed to secure expected Central grants and claimed Telangana received only 45.75 per cent of the estimated grants-in-aid from the Centre.
Demanding transparency from the government, Sravan Kumar asked the Chief Minister to provide a detailed account of the State’s financial condition and explain the widening revenue deficit.
