Telangana launches MSME greening initiative for sustainable industrial growth

Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched a major MSME greening initiative to promote sustainable industrial growth and cleaner manufacturing practices across the state.

The Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) and the Hyderabad Science and Technology Cluster organised the “Telangana MSME Greening Summit – A RAMP Initiative” at HITEX Exhibition Centre on Tuesday.

The Hyderabad S&T Cluster functions under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.

Officials said the RAMP programme stands for Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance. The Union Ministry of MSME runs the programme with World Bank assistance.

Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu unveiled the Telangana MSME Greening Portal, MSME Assessment Toolkit and digital dashboard during the summit.

Moreover, officials said the digital platforms would act as a single-point access system for MSMEs to learn about sustainability initiatives.

Senior officials from the Directorate of Industries, TGSPDCL, MSME DFO and TGIIC also launched sector-specific technology compendiums.

MSME greening initiative focuses on sustainable growth

The summit brought together policymakers, government officials, MSMEs, industry associations, startups and financial institutions.

Discussions focused on cleaner manufacturing systems, energy-efficient technologies and digital monitoring tools.

Meanwhile, industry representatives shared experiences regarding challenges in adopting sustainable industrial practices.

Officials said the roundtable sessions encouraged collaborative ecosystem support mechanisms for MSMEs.

Speaking at the summit, Sridhar Babu said Telangana aimed to build a future-ready industrial economy. He added that sustainability and economic growth should progress together.

According to the minister, MSMEs formed the backbone of Telangana’s economy. Therefore, their transition towards green manufacturing remained important for achieving the vision of a “Rising Telangana”.

Director of Industries Nikhil Chakravarthy said the initiative would strengthen competitiveness, resilience and sustainability among MSMEs.

In addition, he said the programme focused on institutional capacity building, market access and technology adoption.

RICH CEO Rashmi Pimpale said innovation and sustainability must move together to create long-term industrial growth.

Officials stated that the initiative would strengthen institutional collaboration and accelerate technology adoption across Telangana.
