Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress, the BRS, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Left parties of politicising the NEET issue and misleading students for political gains. He made the remarks while addressing the media after a meeting with party workers in Rangareddy district on Friday.
According to Ramchander Rao, the Congress and the BRS were supporting what he described as anti-national forces behind the protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. He alleged that the demonstrations were politically motivated rather than genuine student protests.
Further, Ramchander Rao said the BRS had no moral right to organise protests at Dharna Chowk in the name of unemployed youth. He recalled that the previous BRS government had abolished Dharna Chowk, a traditional venue for democratic protests. He questioned how the party could now claim to represent unemployed youth.
Meanwhile, he accused the previous BRS government of mishandling recruitment examinations and paper leak cases. He alleged that Group-I examination paper leaks and other irregularities had disrupted recruitment processes. In addition, he referred to the Intermediate examination controversy involving the Globarena software. He claimed that administrative failures had led to the deaths of 27 students by suicide.
NEET issue sparks fresh political attack
Moreover, Ramchander Rao alleged that the Congress and the BRS were two sides of the same coin. He accused both parties of supporting the AIMIM during MLC elections. He also claimed they had opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill and the delimitation process.
Further, the BJP leader criticised the Congress over the replacement of the Dharani portal with Bhu Bharati. He alleged that corruption and irregularities had continued despite the change. According to him, the government had only changed the name while leaving the system unchanged.
In addition, Ramchander Rao claimed that more than 150 paper leak incidents had taken place during the UPA government’s tenure. He questioned why Congress leaders and former Union education ministers had not resigned at that time.
He also accused the Congress of using the NEET issue to mislead the public through political drama and mind games.
Accordingly, Ramchander Rao said Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh had met activist Sonam Wangchuk and persuaded him to end his hunger strike after giving assurances on behalf of the Central government. He reiterated that the BJP remained committed to protecting students’ interests and accused the Opposition of exploiting sensitive issues for political advantage.
