Hyderabad: BJP leader and former MLC N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress government of ignoring student protests and demanded the immediate withdrawal of GO 97. Rao made the allegations after police placed him under house arrest while he was heading to join a Polytechnic students’ protest in Hyderabad.
He strongly objected to the police action and accused the government of trying to suppress opposition voices. Rao said Polytechnic and AYUSH students had taken to the streets across Telangana over their respective demands.

According to Rao, police placed him under house arrest when he planned to participate in the Polytechnic students’ protest. He argued that such restrictions would not stop the BJP from raising student issues.
Rao warned that the government would be mistaken if it believed house arrests could silence opposition leaders. He said no form of restriction would prevent the BJP from continuing its campaign.
