Adilabad: A 26-year-old man died by suicide in Adilabad town, and his family says he left a note blaming doctors and police for his death. The incident has caused a stir in the district headquarters. Rahul Kamble, a resident of Disabled Colony in Adilabad town, was the victim, and his death has left his family and relatives in deep grief.
According to his family, Rahul wrote the note and took his life after reaching home from the police station at midnight. Information available so far suggests the note names doctors and police as responsible for his death.
Rahul had reportedly gone to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital on the previous night for treatment after a scorpion sting. He reportedly argued with a doctor and staff while asking for quick treatment. The hospital staff then informed Adilabad Two Town police, who took him to the police station. His family alleges that police assaulted him there.
Angry over his death, family members, relatives and Dalit organisation leaders staged a protest in front of the RIMS chamber. They demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances that led to his death and action against those responsible.
MLA Payal Shankar, Additional Collector Rajeshwar and DSP Jeevan Reddy reached the spot after receiving the information. They reviewed the situation and collected details from the family members.
MLA seeks Rs. 50 lakh compensation and a job
Payal Shankar demanded Rs. 50 lakh compensation for Rahul’s family and a job for one family member. He also asked for a thorough inquiry to bring out the facts. The MLA said the probe should be impartial and cover both the allegation of police assault and the events at RIMS.
He urged strict action against anyone found responsible in the inquiry. He also asked the government and the officials concerned to take the initiative to ensure justice for the family. The family and Dalit organisation leaders have likewise asked the government to provide suitable compensation and support the bereaved family.
