Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao alleged phone tapping of BRS leaders by the Congress government in Telangana.
The remarks came after he visited BRS leader Krishank at Sangareddy district jail. According to him, the government targeted opposition voices and used cases to suppress dissent.
Meanwhile, he criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, stating that people were closely observing the government’s actions. He added that those in power would face public backlash for what he described as arbitrary functioning.
Rao further alleged that authorities jailed Krishank for questioning the government and termed the action unjustified. In addition, he said the case stemmed from remarks about a “fake circular,” which led to legal action.

At the same time, Rao warned officials against supporting the ruling party. He said those aligning with the Congress would face consequences once the BRS returned to power.
He also dismissed the possibility of the Congress retaining power and described such expectations as unrealistic. Moreover, he criticised the government over farmer issues, pointing to delays in procurement and lack of support at purchase centres.
Raising further questions, he asked why authorities failed to act despite farmers waiting for nearly 20 days at procurement centres. He also alleged that no mechanism was in place to purchase crops like Bengal gram and sunflower.
Finally, Rao accused the administration of ignoring irregularities in procurement practices and questioned what the intelligence system was doing despite ongoing issues.
