Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao made a phone tapping allegation, accusing the Telangana government of illegally surveilling opposition leaders.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered the surveillance. Moreover, he alleged that unidentified persons hacked CCTV cameras at leaders’ residences.
He warned that his party would take strict action against officials involved. He said, “Not a single IPS officer involved will be spared once we come to power.”
Phone tapping allegation targets state leadership
T. Harish Rao said authorities must conduct any surveillance within legal limits. However, he alleged that the government violated established norms.
He said the phone tapping allegation raised serious concerns about misuse of power. Therefore, he demanded accountability from the government.
He urged authorities to ensure transparency in surveillance practices. In addition, he asked them to follow legal frameworks strictly.
Apart from the allegations, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce national projects for Telangana. He said such decisions would benefit the state.
He added that the Prime Minister should prioritise development initiatives over public meetings. Meanwhile, he reiterated that opposition concerns required attention.
